Our Story
The Jade Vine is Hannah Esparza's floral design studio and women-operated small business, that values sustainability and cultivating a unique floral experience. Our mission is to innovate and prioritize eco-friendly solutions within the floral industry. We specialize in wedding services, while providing an inclusive atmosphere for walk-ins and workshops. Our experienced, dedicated team of designers provides essential kindness and care to every couple, order, and event. We understand the role flowers play in fostering a connection between people and nature, and we invite you to visit our community-focused shop on Montrose Avenue in Irving Park, Chicago.

Our flowers
We partner with several local growers, and prioritize sourcing from companies that align with our earth-conscious values. We strategically order precise stem lengths to create less waste while designing, and all organic matter is composted with a local company. Expired blooms are dried for reuse in arrangements and wreaths, which increases the lifespan for certain flower varieties. All packaging material is reused as often as possible, then recycled or composted if eligible.
About the shop
Walk-ins can browse an array of fresh floral options, or work with an on-site florist to create a custom arrangement. While you’re with us, don’t forget to grab an eco-friendly gift to accompany your flowers. We offer in-store workshops where you and your guests will find yourselves surrounded by enthralling colors, displays, and scents while you learn about sustainable floristry. Small group space rental for private events is also available.

You can find us bustling around the Chicagoland wedding and event scene as part of the Green Wedding Alliance. Our background in professional design means we offer a special touch when bringing each vision to life. We are committed to an eco approach in everything we do.

At The Jade Vine, we approach sustainability as a lifelong practice and commitment to growth.
We value and appreciate everyone involved in the hard work that goes into the art of floral design; the farmers, delivery drivers, flower market owners, our staff, and the Earth.
We do not use floral foam in any of our designs. Floral foam is made up of harmful microplastics that never fully decompose.
We do not use single-use products for our designs and always re-use mechanics.
We always prioritize local growers. We avoid damaging emissions from international travel by doing so and the quality of the flowers is significantly better.
We are a member of the Green Wedding Alliance, a group of sustainable wedding vendors that hold each other accountable and offer collaborative support.
We offer fair compensation for our staff members and freelancers.
We compost all organic matter through Urban Canopy.
We are constantly researching new eco-friendly options.
We extend the life of our blooms by repurposing wedding floral into dried wreaths + arrangements.
We avoid over-ordering to reduce waste, and order specific stem lengths to avoid additional compost.
We use compostable packaging, travel wrapping, and business cards.
We re-use packing materials from our growers, and recycle what we can’t re-use.
We use compostable bags, Swedish dishcloths, compostable toilet paper, tissues, and paper towels, as well as use eco-friendly cleaning supplies.
We purchase secondhand rental inventory whenever possible.
We accept donated vases from our local community to bring new life to their old decor, and offer discounts for designs in returned vases.
We work with local creators to offer handmade, earth-conscious retail in our shop.
